Delivery Driver – Nationwide – Day in the life of an Ocado delivery driver
SAFETY STEWARD BRADFORD, UNITED KINGDOM -10.00 HOURLY G4S UK and Ireland
About the role
There’s more to being an Ocado driver than simply sitting behind the wheel. As one of our delivery drivers you’ll be the face of our business for the dozens of diverse Ocado customers you meet each day.
You’ll work on a shift pattern that covers both early mornings (could be as early as 05:30), late evening shifts (could be finished as late as midnight) and weekends. Each day you work you’ll be glad to hear that your van will be pre-loaded for you along with a pre-loaded route before delivering our customers’ orders.
Our drivers spend much of their working day on their own but are very much part of the Ocado team. Being a delivery driver is a physical role and you could be carrying shopping of multiple crates. Each crate currently weighing upto 18kg (equivalent to carrying 9 x 2L bottles of water) and these will need to be delivered to each customer. As part of your role, you’ll be delivering shopping into people’s homes which can be up or down numerous flights of stairs. If there is no lift, we still guarantee the same service.
In return we’ll offer you perks such as 15% discount online shopping at Ocado, up to 15% with Vodafone, 40% off at Cineworld and many more. We offer an award winning training and development program and did you know that 93% of our managers started their career as a delivery driver!
Ocado was established 2000 and listed on the London Stock Exchange in July 2010. We are the world’s largest dedicated online grocery retailer with over 580,000 active customers shopping with us today. Our objective is to provide our customers with the best shopping experience in terms of service, range and price, which builds a strong business and delivers long term value for our shareholders.
While experience is a bonus for our delivery drivers, we’re more interested in your enthusiasm, friendly personality, and willingness to go the extra mile for our customers. We also ask that you’d be prepared to work various shifts, and pay rates vary between times and/or days you work. Please see below as an example.
